La Loubiere Poppies #2

For this painting, I wanted to record the joy I felt when first seeing poppies in Provence. I took many photos attempting to capture their beauty in relation to their surroundings — fields and sky. For some of the photos, I was climbing down ravines, walking out across fields, making my way through thistle, laying in the grass and sometimes almost standing on my head.
